Last week, a columnist for the Press Republican wrote a pretty entertaining piece about the High Peaks which can be found here. I was rolling my eyes when he suggested charging people to hike and paving the trails. But by the time he got to his suggestions of adding Burger King and L.L. Bean stores along the trails, I was laughing.
Doesn't sound all that different from Vermont where you climb their highest peak, Mt. Mansfield, and be greated by hordes of tourists in shorts and t-shirts who took the gondola up the other side.
